Introduction

This website was mode for the sole purpose of providing information about 2 of the main PC components used for gaming, these are the CPU and GPU and depending on the use case and how you want to run your games your selections may vary. I have an interest in building, upgrading and repairing computers as a hobby though I would like to one day work as a computer hardware technician, I have so far built and repaired 3+ computers personally and offered advice to more then 50 people online and some in person though that is more rare.

CPU's

The first component that I am going to talk about here is the CPU, this component is vital for any computer to function at all, for gaming the CPU needs to match the GPU in terms of performance for example you shouldnt pair a ryzen 7 7800X3D with a 1660 super as the bottleneck from the GPU will be too large. Thats brings me onto my first choice for CPU's being the Ryzen 7 7800x3d, this CPU is one of the best cpu's available at this moment in time and can handle almost any GPU besides a 4090/5090, if using this CPU then most games will easily run at over 144fps which is the most average Hz of a gaming monitor but this can vary depending on many factors, due to this CPU being so good it has a moderately high price point for a CPU being around £320, while this is not too expensive for a CPU it is still on the higher side only being beaten by genuine top of the line CPU's like the ryzen 9's and the threadripper seires. In contrast the next CPU I will talk about is the Ryzen 5 7600x, this GPU is more on the affordable side being only £150 on average while still holding up good performance, this CPU is better for more budget builds with things like the 4060/5060 and their TI siblings for a bit better performance, I would use this CPU if your budget was around the £1000 mark as it should allow you to make a decent pc that should be able to run most games at 144fps on a 1080p monitor. The third CPU I will talk about is the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, This is the BEST ryzen 7 you can get for the AM4 platform, while AM$ is technically outdated it is still fully functional and will still be the best choice for a super budget computer with some CPU's costing as little as £50, alongside this since AM4 uses DDR4 ram the overall price of the computer will be significantly lower than the AM5 counterparts, sadly this CPU has been taken out of production but finding second hand CPU's of this type is still possible, I know from personal experience as I am using one personally., the fourth and final CPU I will talk about is the Ryzen 5 5600X, this CPU is the most powerful Ryzen 5 available for the AM4 platform going for around £140 while still keeping the DDR4 RAM for the cheaper overall pricepoint of the computer, it is powerful enough that it should be able to easily run most games at 120fps at 1080p with a 4060/5060 with a TI version being its upper limit in my personal opinion due to its age and lack of cores.

GPU's

The second component I will be talking about is the GPU, this handles the graphical processing for your computer, and helps to run games smoother and with less buffering and tearing compared to using a CPU with integrated graphics, the first GPU's I will talk about are the 4090/5090's as these are the top of the line for gaming with an INSANE pricepoint of over £2500, these should honestly never be considered for a build unless you know the games you will be playing are going to be THAT graphically intensive as the power these provide is not necessary for most people, even for some professional players they wouldnt use this GPU. The second GPU I till talk about is the 4080/5080 seires and their TI counterparts, these GPU's are also top of the line falling short behind the 90's with slightly lower VRAM and a lower power consumption, this should also only be considered if you are planning to use something like a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, this GPU can comfortably run any and all games at over 144fps at 1440p or even 4k for some older games though for competitve play that is ill advised, this GPU is also very expensive as it costs around £700-£900 for a used version of the 4080 and easily over £1000 for a 5080. The third GPU I will talk about is the RTX 4070/5070 and their TI sister cards, This GPU is perfect in almost every way, they arent too expensive they arent overly power hungry and they have GREAT price-performance, most casual gamers and some competitive players that dont have to stream their games use these GPU's due to easily being able to handle 144fps at 1440p. The fourth and final GPU I will talk about is the RTX4060/5060 and their TI sibling cards, these GPU's are the most budget friendly costing around £350-450 while still offering great performance at 1080p and in some games 1440p, this GPU is a solid choice for any casual players not looking to spend hundereds and thousands on a new PC build, This GPU can also handle VR games quite well only getting as low as 20fps if in VERY heavy settings with a lot of moving parts and physics that need to be calculated and rendered, this is my personal choice as I am currently using a 4060ti 16gb vram version and it handles everything I need it to do easily with almost 0 issues and the issues it does have are my own personal user error.
